Overcrowding in lectures and tutorials

  • A lecturer/tutor should not proceed with a class with more persons present than the stated room capacity on the door. This will contravene fire regulations.

  • If it becomes apparent that the maximum permissible number is exceeded the lecturer/tutor should ask any present not officially registered for the module to leave.

  • If the number remains too high then the lecturer/tutor should cancel the class.

  • In all such cases the lecturer/tutor should immediately report the matter in writing to the Administrative Assistant (M.R.Coney@lboro.ac.uk).

  • The Timetabler should not timetable a room for a class which had smaller capacity than the class size.

  • The Department should not allow transfers into an optional module which would lead to the class size exceeding the maximum size for the rooms allocated.
